Where will the law go on the use of hand-held mobile phones in vehicles?
The media have again featured a story about Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin saying that the high death toll from accidents is caused by motorists making calls and has prompted him to consider ” a fresh clampdown” to increase punishments for drivers who are caught using a mobile phone while driving. The latest proposal suggests increasing the penalty points to six per offence, meaning drivers could be banned after just two offences and could also be given a fine of up to £4000.
